CHAP
Childhope Asia Philippines (CHAP)
is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that was officially
created in 1995. CHAP's principal purpose is to advocate the cause
of street children in the Philippines. Its
goals are to reach out to the children living on the streets,
protect, educate, motivate, and counsel them to decide to leave
the streets. CHAP was originally established in 1989 as the Childhope
Asian Regional Office. The concept of Childhope was formed in
1986 when professionals from international children's agencies
saw the need fof an international effort to address the rights
of street children.
CHAP provides the following services
to street children:

provision of opportunities
for alternative education in areas of value clarification, spiritual
formation, primary health care, life skills, drug abuse prevention,
and personal safety against sexual abuse,
- provision of health services,

provision of legal
protection and assistance, and
-
development of leadership
and organizational skills . The training program develops Junior
Health Workers, Junior Educators, and Junior Advocates.
