immunization
Each year, many children, men and women are immunized against
DPT, Hepatitis B, Cholera, Typhoid, Measles and TB.
health education
In 1999, The Economist wrote "With some of the diseases that
kill the poor, the surest answer is to change habits. No single
change would save more lives than if people routinely washed their
hands before touching their food. They also need to filter what
they drink, to feed babies hygienically, to use mosquito nets."
Health education, is incorporated in all the medical missions,
the feeding center projects, and the free clinics. The patients
are taught the importance of washing hands before touching their
food, boiling their drinking water, washing baby bottles, and
using mosquito nets.
educational scholarship
In countless poor families in the Philippines, the only way out
of poverty is through the education of their children. The FOLPMI
offers out-of-school youths and street children educational opportunities
that take them away from the streets and into schools, eventually
equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for a productive
life. High school and college scholarships, and Day Care Centers
have been established for needy children, including those from
the cultural minorities of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
street children program
This program addresses the plight of urban children who wander
the streets. Through health and nutrition programs, spiritual
and values formation activities, and informal and formal education
and livelihood training, the children are prepared for their eventual
return to their families.
